Tariff Support
LMA supports its members by assisting with tariff updates and ensuring compliance with USDA requirements.
Stockyard owners and market agencies operating at posted stockyards must file a schedule of rates and charges—known as a tariff—with the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service. This tariff must also be posted at the stockyard.
What Must Be Included in a Tariff
Each tariff is required to include:
- Description of stockyard services provided
- Name and address of the stockyard owner or market agency
- Location of the stockyard where the tariff applies
- Types of livestock covered
- Rules or regulations affecting rates or charges
If applicable, tariffs must also include:
- Feed charges
- Professional veterinary service fees
Accessing Tariffs
Tariffs are public records. If you need a copy of a tariff, LMA can assist in coordinating requests with the appropriate Packers and Stockyards Division regional office, making the process quick and easy.
